Below is the text of a complaint filed yesterday with the State Board of Elections regarding the campaign committee of Tom Murry. You can't buy Sudafed from a pharmacy without showing ID and having the purchase recorded. Pharmacist Tom Murry has been taking money from some pharmacists without properly disclosing the origin. Some contributions are from pharmacists whose pharmacies are accredited by an organization headed by Murry.
Murry has a strange sense of ethics. He has not condemned the misleading corporate attacks on Chris Heagarty by "Real Jobs NC", led by Art Pope of Variety Wholesalers and Fred Eshelman of PPD. The fact that Murry's wife works for PPD and owns PPD stock (according to public records) may or may not have something to do with his reluctance to criticize Eshelman and Pope. You be the judge.
Mr Gary Bartlett, Executive Director
State Board of Elections

NC Healthy Leadership Committee, the campaign committee of Thomas Murry
Donor disclosure anomaliesMr Bartlett,
I am registered to vote in Wake County. I have reviewed campaign finance reports of the NC Healthy Leadership Committee, the campaign committee of Thomas Murry. I wish to file notice that the committee appears to be in violation of G.S. 163–278.11. “Contents of treasurer’s statement of receipts and expenditures”, in particular section (a)(1) Contributions.
Of approximately 180 named contributors, approximately 70 list the Job Title/Profession of the donor simply as “Self Employed” and the Employer’s Name/Specific Field as either “Self Employed” or as “Small Business”. A cursory internet search reveals that most of these donors are pharmacists. This should be known to Mr Murry, himself a pharmacist and Executive Director of the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board.
For example, a contribution from Danny Barnes. The Job Title/Profession of the donor is listed simply as “Self Employed” and the Employer’s Name/Specific Field as “Small Business”. Mr Barnes is a pharmacist and owner of Triangle Compounding Pharmacy, one of just four such pharmacies in North Carolina accredited by the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board.
The minutes of the NC Board of Pharmacy for November 21, 2006 indicate the Mr Murry was present at a board meeting which included a disciplinary hearing related to Triangle Compounding Pharmacy and Danny Barnes regarding a high profile case involving a death. It stretches the imagination to believe that Mr Murry does not know Mr Barnes’ occupation and employer.
Another example is Davie Waggett. Mr Waggett made two contributions. The total of these contributions is not listed as required. Job Title/Profession of the donor as “Self Employed” and the Employer’s Name/Specific Field as “Small Business”. Mr Waggett is a pharmacist who is the major contributor to the Pharmacy PAC known as the PILL PAC which has contributed to Mr Murry’s campaign. The PILL PAC reports correctly identify Mr Waggett. Again it stretches the imagination to believe that Mr Murry does not know Mr
Barnes'Waggett's occupation and employer. There are many other examples. The likelihood that approximately 70 out of 180 contributors would spontaneously and independently list Job Title/Profession of the donor as “Self Employed” and the Employer’s Name/Specific Field as “Small Business” is low. I ask that you examine these anomalies which obscure the origins of these funds, and if left uncorrected, take steps leading to forfeiture of improperly reported contributions.
Sincerely,
Greg Flynn

When the Show buys influence
They use the same standards they use for buying stuff for sale in Variety Wholesalers stores: cheap and sketchy. That's what they got in Hairdresser Boylan, and that's what they'd get in Pillpusher Murry.

Wake Up!
Anyone who thinks that a high percentage of self employed individuals in today's world is odd needs to wake up and smell the economy! Many people over the last 18 months have been forced from their jobs and have chosen to start out fresh on their own. There's your source for the self employed. I should know, I'm one of them.
