According to Hoyle [Comments Closed]

According to the Charlotte Observer, state senator David Hoyle is thinking about retiring.

State Sen. David Hoyle, a Gaston County Democrat, had planned to announce this week whether he would run for his ninth two-year term. He said that scheduling conflicts have delayed his decision and he plans to take more time."One day, I say I'll go in for another term. Another day, I'm just tired," he said.

Hoyle, 68, was ranked the third most effective senator in Raleigh in the most recent survey of legislators, lobbyists and capitol journalists. He is co-chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, which oversees tax policy, and is a keystone of the Democrats' pro-business faction.

That would be the same pro-business faction we can thank for cutting taxes on rich North Carolinians while voting to continue a regressive sales tax increase across the board. The same pro-business faction that ignored coastal policy and voted to allow rich homeowners at Figure Eight island to "harden" their beach to protect their multimillion dollar homes. And the same pro-business faction that voted to give $40+ million in taxpayer dollars to two tire companies, one of which wasn't even asking for the handout.

Why don't we all send a nice little note to Mr. Hoyle, thanking him for his years of service, and explaining that We the People just can't afford him any more. Be polite, though, otherwise the power-hungry old man might just stick around to spite us.

I can't get him out of my mind.

Damascus Road for Anglico?

Here is the deal Anglco; I'll contact Senator Kinnaird, Mike Nelson, Professor Dan Politt or some other progressive Democrat up there on the Hill and ask them to arrange a meeting between that person, you and me You will then know my progressive Democratic Party credentials that you so eagerly want to compare youir own to. However you have to keep my identity a secret. Quite frankly, I hope that I can persuade you to see the error of your ways and the opportunities you are squandering with your website by your fickle commitment to Democrats..

Error of my ways

The only error I'm second-guessing is my decision not to ban you for being intolerably obnoxious.

This may be some cute contest of wills as far as you're concerned, but I see it differently. You have come into my virtual home and behaved like a total and complete asshole. I have no interest in meeting you.

That's no threat

I thought about it and decided not to. No worries.

I clicked on this comment from the front page

I was hoping the comment portion was going to say "it's a promise" ... oh well.

You surprise me, Sam.

People have lots of different views on the BlueNC standard, which is defined as "intolerably obnoxious." This person hasn't risen to that level, although the personal stuff is getting close.

I think he just meant

I think he just meant that he was disappointed that the verbal combo of "it's not a threat" and "it's a promise" was not in fact employed.

I doubt Sam is in favor of banning people, hopefully he will clarify.

Thomas Jefferson said you always get the rulers you deserve.

I forgot the smiley thing :-(

And I'm a firm believer in raising BlueNC's credibility by making Anglico an action hero.

Angrico

That's the nickname John Hood came up with. A good name for an action figure, no?

That earned you my biggest smile of the day

except for when Betsy walked through my door.

The Big Bird of Darkness came to your house?

Maybe you're brave enough to be the action hero ...

That's not nice.

And yes, I can be an Action Hero. We could have a whole series of them. Between the two of us, Betsy and I would only need the amount of plastic it would take to make one of you. So there. :P

More dedication to Democrats is what is needed. It does matter..

Had there been more dedication to Democratic principles and the Democratic movement in 2000 we may have already succeeded in Afghanistan, we most certainally would not be occupying Iraq today, or ever, and may have gotten rid of Saddam anyway.
Osama Bin Ladin may already be dead or in Jail, Our country would not be over nine trillion dollars in debt, the British pound would not cost 2.43 Us Dollars, Pakistan would be stable, about 600,000 Iraqis, and almost 4,000 Americans, who had not been killed by Saddam, would be alive, Our vast resources may have been useful in rescuing the millions of starving in Dafur and other parts of the world, nobody would be considering moving to the "Euro" standard, America would, in all likelihod, not be as divided as today....and I could go on....... Don't you buy off on this logic Anglico...not for a minute.

It is Democrats and their respect for Rule of Law and Democratic principles which will rescue this country from the incalcuable damage done to it over the past 7 years by Rupublicans and those Democrats who feared to stand upo to them and on principle!

I know you were talking about State matters, but I just thought I'd jump in anyway.

Who me?

Marshall, I think you're confusing me with the person NCAdvocate claims that I am. But I suppose that's what his loyalness has been trying to accomplish all along.

There may be people who need a lecture about the destructive impacts of the Republican party, but I'm not one of them.

GOOD!!

Peace!!!!

There comes a time when a thread gets too unwieldy

....or simply too absurd. This thread has reached one of those points. I'll let you decide which one.
