Dr. Kimberly Hardy for NC House

One thing I'm excited about this fall is the number of Democratic women, including women of color, who are running to take back the NC House. One of them is Kimberly Hardy, from Fayetteville. Here's a highlight from her website.

As a school social worker, she saw the difference that one person can make in the lives of children and their families. She also saw first-hand that everyone needs safe communities with opportunities to learn, build businesses, and thrive. To better advocate for families and neglected communities, she earned her PhD in Social Work from Morgan State. Dr. Hardy is a renowned expert on the role of religion and spirituality in social work and in creating stronger, healthier communities. She now teaches the next generation of social workers at Fayetteville State University.

My son is a social worker and I can tell you without hesitation: social workers have a unique and invaluable way of looking at the world, a way that's grounded in the real lives of real people, many of whom need a helping hand. But heck, I'd settle for public policy that simply stops penalizing people with extra burdens that stem from poverty and lack of decent health care.

Dr. Hardy is exactly the kind of representative who should be working for us in Raleigh. Check out her website and send her a few bucks if you can. And in the meantime, spread the word in Cumberland County by encouraging everyone you know there to register and vote.

She's exactly what we need

in the Legislature, somebody with compassion and brains, to offset the ignorant bullies in the NC GOP.
